He was merely on vacation. I’ll also be in London at the end of this month, anything England Oppos suggest I do, any cool things?
I was told to check Shoreditch. Dave correctly advised me to be more specific so here are the things I enjoy:
-Drinking
-Art Galleries
-Antiques
-Wanted to buy a vintage Rolex this time
- Contemporary Museums
-Jazz

Sports Direct are doing 2 Umbrellas for £6 and given that it has been pissing down lately, I recommended picking a couple up. Lovely quality and shrugs of the worst the wind can throw at them.
Yeah despite living here all my life, I have no idea why London is the most visited city in the world. What’s so great about poor phone reception, smog and passive aggression?

Shoreditch is full of hipsters. Try Mile End... (Don’t.)
As for cool stuff to do, the great thing about London is that whatever your tastes, however niche, there’s something here to suit. If you’re a bit more specific, we’ll be able to suggest places to suit.
I hear the Testing Museum is open more often than it used to be, but they still list opening dates instead of opening hours.

“I have no idea why London is the most visited city in the world”
Try visiting/living in some other ‘cities’ for a while and it’s obvious enough. London’s population means that whatever you want to do, however niche, you can find other people who want to do it with you. Combine that with a tradition of tolerance/politeness, and developed-world living standards and that explains a lot.

I quite enjoy smog and passive-aggression, the one thing I can’t stand is people who are too happy and eager to please which is why I hate traveling around South America and most of the US.

Post updated, the main things I wanted to do was find jazz bars, watch dealers (finally getting an old Rolex I think) and contemporary art.

Fair point. I’m in no real rush to leave the boundaries of the M25. That said I wouldn’t be against somewhere nice on the south coast. Either way maybe visitors are more interested in old buildings than I thought.

Oh, sure, London’s far from perfect. There’s a lot to be said for living just outside, in the country while close enough in to access everything easily.

I’ve seen your update and now I know why London is so popular.
Drinking: This is England my friend just pick a direction after you have landed and walk about 5 mins.
Art: The Tate Modern which is free to enter is the obvious place to go.
Antiques: See drinking. Car boots sales or street markets for days.
Rolex: Ooh big spender.
Contemporary museums: Not sure what you mean.
Jazz: See drinking but in North London, mainly Islington and Camden.
You’re a person of interesting tastes and much culture. I need to expand my horizons.

Contemporary Art Museums* haha, sorry. Will definitely take those advises, thank you!
Also, I collect watches and I’m sure I can a find a cheapish one, but I also need to find reputable dealers

Contemporary art is the easy part. Tate Modern, and the Saatchi gallery. Both free. Lots more besides, but those should be enough to start with. The Serpentine Gallery’s fun if you’re in the area, and Kenwood House is worth a visit, although it’s Old Masters, not contemporary. Nip in to Hampstead for a pint while you’re up that way.

For watches, try either Watches of Switzerland or Austin Kaye.
Oh, and I’m sure there used to be a little shop tucked away in Piccadilly Arcade that sold old watches and the like, but I don’t remember the name.

Probably quicker just to go and have a look.
Jazz isn’t really my thing, or at least jazz bars aren’t. Try this, though:

“one thing I can’t stand is people who are too happy and eager to please”
That’s the one thing we do best. We’ll try to help where we can but won’t push the boat out. Lol. The service industry is not really an industry many want to do but have to do so no fake smiles, no over pretention and if your not happy, go elsewhere. It’s great.
It’s like we won’t be happy doing what they do so how can we expect them to be happy about it.
Oh Britain, how Great you are.
There are plenty of antiques shops and watch shops dotted about the place.
Ask the hotel reception for places to check out.

The pushing the boat thing is the what I can’t stand, helpful and nice people are always nice, but fake smiles and over cheery behavior is a thing that bothers me especially during the morning
Great idea, I usually ignore all the concierge part of the hotel but it should help.

I like to think I’m helpful. But I will push the boat out if it’s needed dependant on the individual. Some have come back and metaphorically slapped me in the face but the majority have appreciated th help. I will say to a select few, “if you don’t like the product, come back and see me and I’ll personally give you the money back (everyone has appreciated my imput and never sort financial recourse).
I like to live by the motto, ‘it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice’.
Also ‘you can’t cure stupid’.
Generally British behaviour is ‘I’ll help where I can but otherwise talk to someone who cares’, mentality.
